The members of the Howell Iron Works celebrate the founding of our nation with the Independence Celebration. Experience a day in the life of people during the 1830s. The school master will be holding school lessons for visitors and villagers alike. Participate in a Militia drills and parade.  The  Declaration of Independence will be read at 2pm before the General Store.  There will also be speeches, and fanfare.  The ladies of the Temperance and Charitable Society present prizes to the best presentations.  Then join the ladies for the Temperance Rally.  This event is free for the public.

The Historic Village at Allaire, the non profit living history museum receives no funding from the State of New Jersey and so relies on donations, admissions, and purchases made at the General Store and Bakery to continue teaching the public about life in New Jersey in 1836.
